How To Get Rich By Tapping Into People's Fantasies

I know the title seems very inviting, but this is more of a revelation rather than an instruction. You see, a year and a half ago when I was just learning how to blog, I had no friggin clue what I was going to write about. Aside from the usual requirement to learn the dynamics of blogging and search engine optimization, I needed to have material.

Initially, I thought about writing personal development stuff (which you will see if you look at my earlier articles) because that seemed to be appropriate for my situation - I badly needed an overhaul because my life’s engine was starting to fall to pieces. Since I have already collected tons of self-help books for the purpose of finding out what to do with myself, I thought that I could read them and write about what I learned at the same time.

That proved to be very difficult for me because the only time that I had for myself was at work. Finding time to do some research so that I can feed myself with ideas was impossible to accomplish out of office hours. Heck, my time out of work was the only time that I could rest. And oh, did I even mention that I had to learn HTML and SEO simultaneously? Yeah, this even made it more stressful because imagine how much effort it took to carry out all of this. Well, I guess you really have to do everything that you need to do if you’re not willing to die and rot in some place you don't like.

So, you ask, what happened next?

Since I usually spent my time in the office following orders and attending to the needs of people I supervised, I made sure to it that I finished my tasks as soon as I could so that I can use the company’s resources for my evil plans. I stayed in the office longer than everyone else, including my boss, and I even went there during my rest days (coz I didn’t have a computer at home).

What I did to myself was dreadful, but despite all the hardships that I went through – starving myself, depriving my body of sleep, neglecting some of my responsibilities, and sacrificing my job which was the only thing that kept me financially secured, I was still able to fulfill my dreams. I was able to get myself out of that wretched place, I have acquired many new skills that I didn’t know I was capable of, I spend all of my time now reading and writing (which is all that I ever wanted to do), and I rediscovered myself amidst all the chaos that surrounded my life. Apparently, I got what I wished for, but there is one very important thing that was revealed to me and now I’m sharing it with you. Do you want to know what it is?

Ok, the revelation is…

STORIES LIKE THIS ARE EMPTY AND MEANINGLESS.

Hehe. You thought I was going to say something else, didn’t you? Well, if you were thinking that this is an inspirational article, you’re wrong. This article is not intended to motivate you, inspire you, and encourage you or anything to that effect. This article is intended to destroy your current beliefs, teach you the mechanism behind storytelling and let you know how the smart people out there use it to take tons of money out of the purses and pockets of those who are gullible enough to believe that the promises told in stories are true and could happen to them.

The fact is we all live in a fantasy world and the ones who know this and possess an amazing talent to manipulate language and emotions use it to make themselves rich. If you want to be like them or, I mean, if you want to get rich and get a lot of attention, then you have to realize first that what I’m saying is true. Otherwise, you can’t go anywhere if all you do is talk about shitty stuff that people don’t even care about.

Now, before I tell you how this works, you need to know first who are some of the people or groups of people that use this knowledge to make an enormous profit out of the stories they tell. I’m not going to enumerate them in any particular order, but I presume it can be easily determined which of them makes the least and which ones make the most in terms of *ka-ching!* MONEY.

1. Professional Bloggers
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against bloggers. I'm only here to point out that these people (I guess that includes me), especially the ones who have thousands of subscribers, definitely know how to keep their readers fantasizing. Blogging for profit takes a lot of work and you have to understand that. Those who make it have invested a lot of effort, time, and even money to get to where they are and that’s the reason why they have a lot of stories to tell. Simply put, they have many experiences and that’s how they can make others fantasize about what they can accomplish and make them hope for a better future. Other than that, they make it appear effortless so that people will believe that what they have done is easy to imitate. However, you must remember that what happened to them may not necessarily happen to you. They cannot talk about your reality because the conditions of your life are absolutely different from theirs. They can only talk about “their” reality. If you’re trying to use their experience as a model for your future, you’re making a big mistake.

2. Writers/Authors
Unless what you are reading is a manual or a technical book, you can be sure that the author is just telling you a story which cannot do you any good at all. Stories alone, no matter how amazing they are, will not and cannot help you accomplish anything. What you need are techniques, steps, and strategies... the boring stuff. If the stories were used only to give context to the techniques, then that’s fine. Otherwise, you are not getting your money’s worth from books that are laden with fancy bullshit stories. If you’re going to pick up any kind of book and your goal is to learn, choose the ones with fewer stories in them.

3. Self-help Gurus
If you are looking for vague ideas, these are the people who will readily give it to you. Remember the movie called “The Secret?” That thing was phenomenal, wasn’t it? I mean, it made a lot of money for the people involved in its production (mostly self-help gurus) and some of those who jumped on the bandwagon. How about the rest of the people who were inspired by that movie? Well, they’re still dreaming.

4. Spiritual and Religious Leaders
Promises, promises, and more promises. This is the only thing that these people have. A promise of a good spot in heaven, a promise of salvation, a promise of enlightenment, so on and so forth. Has it ever occurred to you that spirituality has been marketed for God knows how long? You see, no matter what religious, mystical, or meditative tradition you practice, somebody somewhere out there is making money out of it. No wonder the world is in turmoil, everyone is trying to make a business out of everything. Here’s a little piece of advice: If you want to listen to someone who really has something to teach and can help you get “there,” wherever that may be, then you won’t find that person. Those who are mature, self-realized, and wise enough to understand this know what I’m talking about.

5. Conspiracy Theorists & Politicians
They talk about change, they talk about the current state of society, and they talk about how you should be in control of your life, but what they don’t tell you is how they use “FEAR” to get into your head. Right now, I’m sure you’ve heard about stuff like the New World Order, 2012 Doomsday, UFO Disclosure, Global Warming, Planet Nibiru and the Annunaki, and all sorts of crazy ideas that’s making our heads spin. Yeah, it’s all part of the business folks. All of these people are making money by selling books, organizing conference talks, and other forms of gimmicks. One thing you should realize is that nobody really knows what’s going on and what will happen to this world. Whoever claims to know the truth is probably full of shit. Also, don’t think that they’re any different from the people and institutions they oppose. Now, I’m not saying that there is nothing to learn from these guys. Maybe there is and maybe there isn’t. However, if what they are saying is making you worried about your own state of affairs and giving you more stress than you could handle, then you’re probably better off watching Spongebob Squarepants. At least that guy could give you some laughs. And with regards to politicians, well forget it. If you still think they care for you after everything that has happened in human history, holy cow!!!

6. Scientists
Tell me, have you ever tried communicating with anyone by just using numbers and mathematical symbols? Nope… doesn’t happen, right? Well, unless the scientists in this world, which are considered as high priests and shamans of modern society, find a way to make this kind of thing happen (like turn you into a robot, which is possible), we have no way of finding out if what they are telling us about the nature of the world is true or not. Forget about objective reality; forget about scientific evidence. Everything is subjective as long as you're inside that body of yours. Besides, they are still too busy fighting with each other regarding who has the most awesome and believable theory and what is the most objective fact that they can present. Don’t you know that a huge percent of taxpayers’ money go into this but all they can provide us are stories like how all life on Earth evolved from single-celled organisms or how the entire universe was created out of nothing? What makes their story different from the ones we find in religious texts? They’re not even certain of what they’re doing. Are you sure you want to let them speculate for the rest of eternity? Go ahead, find the quantum physicists who are working on the Large Hadron Collider. Ask them a philosophical question about the purpose of their work and see how they would respond. Lord have mercy on their souls.

7. Mass Media
Did you know that cultural programming is done through mass media? It’s a more effective and efficient means compared to religion. What I mean is that much of the reasons why (and how) you operate as a human being in this world come from the information allowed by the governing entities to be disseminated through radio, television, newspapers, and even the internet. By the way, this is not some stupid conspiracy if that’s what you’re thinking, but it will take me another article of this length (or more) to discuss this so I’ll just leave this topic alone for now. Besides, we’re not talking about communication theory here. We’re talking about getting rich. *wink*

8. Filmmakers
Oh yeah, these guys wipe their asses with silk. In line with politicians, religious leaders, and media tycoons, these people know everything there is to know when it comes to using fantasy as a means to become filthy rich. Have you ever asked yourself why millions of people still go to movie theaters to watch the latest crap these guys produce despite the global economic crisis? People are hooked on fantasy films, there’s no doubt about it.

There's probably more, but this is all that I can think of at the moment. Now, I’m sure you’re saying to yourself, “This dude claims to know what he’s talking about, but is he rich?”

Well, to answer that, HELL NO! I AM NOT RICH. I'm as poor as the turd you step on the street. My purpose in life is not to become rich but to become wiser and see if I can find out what the hell I’m doing in this reality, this dimension, this planet, this existence, or whatever this place is. The only subject that I found that fits this goal perfectly is metaphysics and I know many people don’t even give a rat’s arse about this topic. It just so happens that I also study human behavior and social dynamics so I know (or think I know) what I'm saying here and that’s why I’m sharing it. I don’t even care anymore if people read my stuff. If you find the articles on my blog helpful, then that’s great. If not, then I don’t MIND at all. Hehe.

Now on to the tactics…

The ARTICHUCK's Commandments On Using Fantasy To Get Rich:

1. Thou shalt take advantage of the situation when telling a story.
Fantasies take root in people’s minds, especially in times of scarcity and decline. People rarely believe that their problems arise from their own misdeeds and stupidity. Someone or something out there is to blame and so salvation comes from the outside as well.

2. Thou shalt never promise a gradual improvement through hard work. Rather, promise a great and sudden transformation and become a source of pleasure for those around thee.
Change is slow and gradual. It requires hard work, a bit of luck, a fair amount of self-sacrifice, and a lot of patience. This is not what people want and is not a source of pleasure. People are looking for a sudden transformation that will bring a total change in their fortunes, bypassing work, luck, self-sacrifice, and time in one fantastic stroke.

3. Thou shalt exaggerate the harshness of reality.
Fantasy can never operate alone. It requires the backdrop of the boring and the mundane. It is the harshness of reality that allows fantasy to take root and bloom. If you can spin a fantasy out of an oppressive reality, you will have access to power. As you search for the fantasy that will take hold of the people, keep your eye on the banal truths that weigh heavily on everyone. Don’t be distracted by people's glamorous portraits of themselves and their lives. Search and dig for what really imprisons them. Once you find that, you will have the magical key that will put great power in your hands. Ugh, that last line sounds so effin cheesy.

4. Thou shalt keep thy fantasy to some degree unrealized, literally unreal.
Simply give the hope for relief from boredom. Con artists love to play on the austerity of the working world, its lack of adventure. Their cons involve anything offering release from the humdrum. Fantasy usually contains an element of play. The public half realizes it is being duped, but it keeps the dream alive anyway. If you can provide entertainment and the temporary diversion from everyday life, then you’re doing it right.

5. Thou shalt not be too direct in describing the fantasy - keep it vague.
Keep it light and never come too close to the place where you are actually expected to produce results. The key to fantasy is distance. The distant has allure and promise. It should seem simple and problem free. What you are offering should be ungraspable and should never become too familiar in the eyes of your followers or audience.

6. Thou shalt keep thy audience or followers dreaming and desiring.
Society is fragmented and full of conflict. In the fantasy world, we can enter a totally new dimension with different codes and the promise of adventure. People can come together in a mystical union of souls… whatever the hell that means. Promise such a union and you can gain authority and power.

P.S. Sorry for the constant use of foul language. However, I realized that if I didn’t express myself the way I wanted to, I will suffer from uptightness and probably have a tumor stuck up my ghetto ass. No, I didn’t say hemorrhoids… I said TUMOR.
